A POLICE officer was identified as the gunman in the slay attempt against former Barangay Tejero, Cebu City captain Jessielou Cadungog on Monday, July 30.
Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak confirmed that Police Officer 3 Eugene Alcain Calumba of the Parian, Cebu City Police Office shot Cadungog.
Calumba is an operative of the city police Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), Tumulak said.

Cadungog was ambushed while on board his red Toyota FJ Cruiser along Villagonzalo 2 in Barangay Tejero.
The barangay official, however, survived the attack, while Calumba died after Cadungog's companion was able to fire back.
Cadungog was later brought to an undisclosed location for safety. Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña came to talk to him.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Central Visayas has also placed in custody Calumba's driver, Michael Banua, a police asset, based on the identification card that was recovered from him. (JOB/KAL/VoxPop Philippines)
