Couple killed in Danao

A MINER and his wife were shot to death by unidentified assailants in the mountain village of Oguis, Danao City, Cebu last Sunday night.

Police identified the fatalities as Jose Cal Manulat, 57, and Anecia Alerta Manulat, 56.

SPO1 Rodrigo Roble of the Danao City Police Station said an investigation is still being conducted to find out the motive of the attack.

Jose suffered gunshot wounds in the head, face and body, while his wife was hit once in the right portion of her breast and twice in the face.

Police learned about the incident only after Oguis Barangay Captain Jose Alcala Vasquez reported this to them at 6:15 a.m. last Monday.

Vasquez told the police that the neighbors noticed bursts of gunfire around 11:30 p.m. last Sunday.

Five empty shells of .45 pistol were recovered at the crime scene.

At 2:45 p.m. last Monday, Jerryl Cartagena Magalona, 27, was gunned down by two unidentified men in Barangay Guiwang, Alcoy.

He died from three gunshot wounds in the head.

The doctor at the Julio Cardinal Rosales Hospital tried to revive him, but failed.

Before the incident happened, Magalona was with his live-in partner inside their house when the culprits arrived on board a motorcycle.

The culprits came in and looked for the victim.

Magalona was allegedly shot by the backrider several times.
