PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has met with Cebuano businessman Peter Lim, one the country's top drug lords named by Malacanang, in Davao City to discuss his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
In the video released by state-run Radio-Television Malacañang, the President urged Lim to undergo an investigation, to prove that he is not the "Peter Lim" who is allegedly a member of a drug triad in the Visayas.
"As of now, we do not see any 'Peter Lim,' except your name which exists," Duterte said during his meeting with Lim.
"There is a suspicion that you are a drug lord... I will advise you strongly to submit yourself with the investigation under my term," he added.
Lim is one of the alleged three "top-tier" drug syndicates identified by the President last July 7.
Duterte alleged that Lim, alias Jaguar, is the one responsible in the illegal drug sale in Visayas.
"I will execute you [if you are proven guilty]. But if you don't have [any involvement], you better go investigation," Duterte told Lim.
"We want to help you... Help us clear you," he added.
Lim, in response, said he is willing to cooperate with Duterte to clear his name.
"I could clear up everything because my family is really in deep now in Cebu... In any way, I could be of help, I would really help in all my ways I can," said Lim.
In a previous interview with Sun.Star Cebu, Lim pleaded not to judge him because it is still not proven that he is a drug lord.
"I am appealing to the public not to be judgmental because I am a family man and you people also have your own families," he said. (Sunnex)
