The City Government of Bacolod has installed 12 face recognition biometric machines at various offices within the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).
German Aguirre, head of the Human Resource Management Office, said yesterday that the installation is part of the city's program, led by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, to implement a face recognition biometric system for city employees.
"It’s also part of the mayor’s vision to make Bacolod a super city, and it will start with the city employees," Aguirre explained.
He added that the system will primarily use facial recognition, and it will be implemented for all regular employees. In addition to facial recognition, employees will also have the option to use biometric fingerprint machines.
After the initial installation at the BCGC, Aguirre stated that biometric machines will also be set up at the City Health Office, Bacolod City College, and other offices.
Currently, the names of regular employees are being encoded into the system, and Aguirre expressed hope that the program will be fully implemented next year, including for casual and job order employees.
"This program will help improve the time-in and time-out system for employees, as it has been observed that some employees report late," he added.(MAP)
