THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental-North has distributed an individual certificates of land ownership award (Cloa) to 13 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) covering over 20 hectares of landholding in Murcia town recently.
Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Edelita Abanilla, who led the activity, said every right comes with a responsibility.
The DAR has helped farmers to acquire the land of their own, she said, adding that "we hope that you may never forget the responsibility that comes with it-the taxes to be paid and the other obligations to be acted upon."
The land titles involved the landholding formerly owned by Ramona Regalado located in Barangay Sta. Rosa in the said locality.
The 20-hectare land was distributed by the agency through land acquisition and distribution under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms (Carper).
Under which, public and private agricultural landholdings are acquired by the government to be distributed to tenants, farmers, farmworkers and other tillers who are qualified to become ARBs.
These are in the form of Cloas covering one contiguous tract or several parcels of land cumulated up to a maximum of the hectares per ARB.
This is anchored to the agency's objective to provide lands to landless farmers and farmworkers.
Also, guarantee the farmers of land security, deliver social equity, and provide them with the necessary productive resources needed to ensure their economic viability and productivity.
