THE Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will open its office in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City Friday, November 23.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the SEC chairman along with its other officials are expected to arrive for the opening of its office in the city at 10 a.m.
"This is something that will impact our business climate and this extension is one of the kind because this is the only office of the SEC that is born out of legislation," he said.
Leonardia recalled that he authored the bill when he was a congressman and was passed into law in the 16th Congress as Republic Act No. 10785, otherwise known as "SEC Bacolod Office Law."
He said the bill was approved by the president on May 3, 2016.
"This means that no matter who will run the SEC, the Bacolod office is here to stay as a permanent office. This will not be subjected to administrative policy changes. Its existence will even be more stable than any other field office in the country," he added.
The SEC office is located along Libertad Extension near the office of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Barangay Taculing.
Leonardia said the SEC office will serve not only the people of Bacolod but also the neighboring cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.
