IN TIMES of uncertainty caused by coronavirus pandemic, people are panic buying on foods and goods to sustain them for a week or more.
However, at Negros Farmers Weekend, organic growers in Negros Occidental had the reason to continue celebrating their 7th anniversary last Saturday at Magsaysay Avenue, Bacolod City, enjoying a fresh air while partaking the sumptuous native and organic dishes and homemade delicacies with the company of small number of friends and family.
Ruby C. Cruz, Lead Volunteer/ Organizer Negros Farmers Weekend Market was grateful that the Negros Farmers Weekend Market has reached seven years.
Last Saturday, they marked their seventh year of service to the people of Negros, by providing the local farmers and home-grown chefs, a venue to showcase their products, and for the weekend patrons have a great weekend market experience.
The seventh-anniversary celebration was fun and memorable as various activities unfolded, she added.
They had the Bago Babaylan dancers and Drumbeaters performed at the venue while they also hosted fun activities such as corn cook fest for students and housewives using the harvested corn from the vegetable demo area; a corn eating contest, a Kiddie Shopping game (for kids 4-10 yrs old), photo booth, mascot and lots of free ice cream and corn to go around.
Cruz was delighted to see the fruits of their labor although the challenge is still there they will remain focused on their mission of helping the local farmers have an outlet to market their different kinds of organic and non-organic agricultural products.
