THE late Maurice "Peque" de Luzuriaga Gallaga, a movie and theater director, has left a collection of artworks that reflects his passion as an exceptional Filipino artist.
An art exhibition dubbed "Pagpalangga," (for love) currently running at the Negros Museum, was made possible by the Negros Museum and Real Entertainment Inc. with additional support from his dearest friends in recognition of the former artist who has left an indelible mark in the field of movies and theater.
People have recognized him as a movie and theater director. A few learned about his cinematic and theatrical genius originated from his instinctive desire to express the burst of images in his head through a sketchpad or a canvas or even onto a ceramic plate.
And with the influx of digital technology, he discovered another playground, wherein he experimented with juxtapositions only he could imagine.
The exhibition showcases approximately eighty of his artworks spanning the six decades of his creative life.
Most of the art pieces in the exhibition belong to family members, colleagues, students, and friends who consider themselves privileged to receive the artwork as a gift from Peque.
And so Palangga gathers all the love between Peque and the people in his life to confirm that he was a consummate artist, an inspiring mentor, and a father to all.
