THE spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has currently reached a pandemic level thus, precautionary measures are highly encouraged and advised to help ensure and strengthen public health.
Malls, airlines, many businesses and individuals whose sources of livelihood are directed from events and festivals have endured the effects of Covid-19.
SM City Bacolod was among those who were responsive to the need to ensure the protection and preservation of public health.
Since January 2020, all SM Supermalls and SM properties across the country immediately implemented countermeasures to ensure public safety.
In Bacolod City, SM continues to promote personal hygiene among its shoppers and mallgoers, not only to ward off Covid-19 but other viruses that may bring about illnesses as well.
As the threat of the virus continues to develop worldwide, the mall has stepped up its safety measures.
Aside from the alcohol dispenses set up at the entrances, restrooms, and other strategic mall areas where more people converge, like the food court, temperature checks are being done by security personnel at all entries.
Mallgoers with body temperatures at 37.6 degrees Celsius and above were advised to be checked at the nearest medical facility.
SM's sanitation teams have also doubled their efforts at the routes around the mall. The areas where there is heavy customer contact are disinfected regularly before, within and after mall hours. Mallgoers may notice sanitation personnel deployed at the entrances for alcohol dispensing, and around the mall cleaning handrails, elevator buttons and the like. Comfort rooms are also sanitized every 30 minutes while soap dispenses are refilled regularly.
The thermal checks are also being done around the clock, including persons who enter the premises before mall hours. These would be employees, tenants, delivery teams, agency and security personnel and customers who patronize stores that operate with extended hours.
"The safety of our patrons, tenants and employees matter to us," said Castro, public relations manager of SM City Bacolod. "We appeal for everyone's understanding and cooperation as we continue to intensify our efforts against the coronavirus and other health hazards."
