SOME 100 newly recruited policemen are headed to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Training Center in Bacolod City this week.
They will undergo the six-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course and another six months for their Field Training Program.
The new recruits will boost the manpower of the police force in the region, said Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas Director Rolando Miranda during their oath-taking at the Camp Gen Martin Teofilo B Delgado, Iloilo City on Monday, November 8.
Miranda reminded the new recruits to commit themselves to training and emphasized that so much is expected of them since they are already considered as government servants.
He told the recruits that they are subject to rules, policies and regulations governing the organization.
"You are very lucky to pass all the requirements set forth by the PNP for you to be appointed as patrolman and patrolwoman on a temporary status," Miranda added.
Of the 100 new recruits, 84 are males and 16 are females.
Reception rites followed after the oath-taking ceremony as part of the PNP tradition which prepares the recruits physically and gives them awareness on what to expect in the training center, a statement from the Police Regional Office 6 said.
It added that the reception is just a beginning, a step of removing the "civilian antics" of the recruits and letting them embrace the regimented way of life.
