A TOTAL of 114 additional voters were registered by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City during the special satellite registration for persons with disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens at the Bacolod Government Center on Wednesday, September 5.
City Election Registrar Mavil Majarucon-Sia said of the 114 voters, they registered a total of 11 PWDs and 28 senior citizens.
She said several barangays joined the special registration with their constituents who are senior citizens and PWDs.
"This is a special registration for the PWDs and senior citizens to encourage them to register for the 2019 elections," she added.
Comelec said that it's a one-day activity only as it's the duty of the poll body to respond for the special needs of these group of people.
Aside from PWDs and senior citizens, Majarucon-Sia said they also catered the regular applications for new registration, transfer, reactivation, correction of entry and transfer with reactivation registrations.
Last week, around 38 inmates of Metro Bacolod District Jail (MBDJ)-Female Dormitory in Barangay Handumanan were also registered by Comelec.
Comelec is reminding would-be registrants to bring valid government identification cards with picture and signature, original and photocopy of birth certificate.
"If their residence is not stated on the ID, they could bring a proof of their residence or billing statements like water or electric bill," Majarucon-Sia said.
She said that those who will apply for correction of entries like single or married should bring the original copy of their marriage certificate with a photocopy for authentication purposes. (MAP)
