SIXTEEN jail officers and 40 female persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were tested negative for illegal drug use in a surprise drug test at the Metro Bacolod District Jail (MBDJ)-Female Dormitory in Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City Monday, August 20.
It was conducted in the presence of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), which also provided assistance to other jail personnel who initiated the test.
They submitted their urine samples for the test and were found out to be negative.
The test was conducted in lieu of the bureau's thrust to completely eradicate the entry of contraband, particularly illegal drugs and to ensure that all jail personnel are not involved in any illegal drug-related activities.
Although the results yielded negative, Senior Inspector Aubrey Robles, jail warden, still warned the personnel to remain vigilant during their duties.
"The negative results during the test do not guarantee that there will be no future attempts of the illegal entry of contraband," Robles added. (GYM)
