THREE minors and 14 others were arrested for violation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban in 24 separate incidents in Negros Occidental since April 14.
Inspector Charmae De Paz, public information officer of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), said 11 short firearms and nine other improvised firearms were recovered while three guns were surrendered to the authorities since the implementation of the Comelec gun ban last month.
Police also confiscated 87 ammunition and four bladed weapons.
De Paz said the recovered firearms were seized from police operations like the checkpoint, Oplan Bakal, application of search warrant, and service of arrest warrant.
On May 5, Nocppo conducted a simultaneous campaign against loose firearms in all cities and municipalities in the province.
Some gun holders turned over their firearms to the police for safekeeping while others surrendered their guns through Oplan Katok. (GYM)
