TWO minors aged 16 and 17 were arrested for their alleged participation in killing a Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) member in Negros Oriental.
Colonel Michael Samson, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, said the arrest of the two minors were made during a hot pursuit operation conducted by the Guihulngan police.
The victim was identified as Mico Denoy of Imelda Cafgu Patrol Base, 28, married and resident of Barangay Imelda, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
While on off-duty status, Denoy was reportedly traveling back to his residence on board a motorcycle traversing along Luz-Hinakpan Road when he was shot by unidentified gunmen on January 28.
The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds from a caliber 45 pistol. Information disclosed that Denoy was a habal-habal driver as his part-time job.
The motive of the incident has yet to be determined.
During a pursuit operation, Guihulngan police apprehended the two suspects positively identified by a witness. The suspects turned out to be minors, so they were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development while the case is being filed in court.
