SOME 209,382 persons in Bacolod City were already vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Of the figures, 148,464 are fully vaccinated, records of the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF) showed.
The EOC-TF said the city has been proactively offering several flexible methods to get Covid-19 jabs.
These included the VAX-I mobile vaccination drive, which mobilizes five buses around the city, as well as personnel for onsite visits and barangay and cluster vaccination.
The city has also put up mall-based vaccination sites at Ayala Malls Capitol Central, City Malls Goldenfield and Mandalagan, Gaisano City, Robinsons Place and SM City.
Graveyard Shift Vaccination Drive for graveyard or night-duty business process outsourcing workers, which is one of its kind in the country, was also launched along with two drive-thru vaccination sites at Ayala Malls Capitol Central and 24/7 vaccination drive at Jollibee Gatuslao and Jollibee East.
In September 2021, about 168 residents in Bacolod City died due to Covid-19. Of the number, 140 were unvaccinated.
Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr., officer-in-charge of the City Health Office (CHO), earlier said the rampant spread of Covid-19 was observed in areas with low vaccination rates.
"Despite the round-the-clock vaccination efforts of the city government, many residents are still hesitant to get vaccinated due to their vulnerability to fake news about Covid-19 vaccines, which they read on various social media platforms," he said.
The EOC-TF encouraged Bacolod residents to get vaccinated, to achieve herd immunity.
