A TOTAL of 217 foreigners are still stranded in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City as of April 15 due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) enhanced community quarantine.
Provincial Tourism Office data showed that of the total number of stranded foreigners, 116 are in different towns and cities in the province and 101 are in Bacolod City.
The Covid-19 scare prompted the provincial government to close its borders and suspend both air and sea travels.
Jennylind Cordero, provincial tourism officer, said Canadians and Americans top the list of stranded tourists in Negros Occidental at 23 each.
Those stranded in Bacolod City are led by Australians at 25 individuals, the records added.
Cordero said that the 6th district has the greatest number of stranded nationalities with 54.
Of the 54, 47 are in Sipalay City, a known tourist destination in Negros Occidental.
Records also showed that 1st district has 10 stranded tourists, 2nd district - 17, 3rd district - 23, 4th district - 10, 5th district - two.
Cordero said various embassies have arranged for the repatriation of their nationals stranded in the island.
The Australian embassy has arranged for a flight on Saturday for its nationals who will travel to Cebu then to Manila before flying to Melbourne, Australia, she said.
