THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Western Visayas confirmed that 217 villages all over Western Visayas have been declared drug-cleared.

The 217 barangays have passed the deliberation process and were subsequently declared as drug-cleared or officially unaffected by the members of the Regional Oversight Committee, which include Department of Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police, Department of Health and the Local Government Units, with PDEA sitting as chairman.

A total of 325 barangays from 31 municipalities and cities in the region applied for drug-clearing during the 17th Regional Oversight Committee Deliberation on October 29, 2019 at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Regional Office Activity Center, P. Aquino Avenue, Iloilo City.

In total, 69.34 percent of all barangays have already been declared as "cleared" or officially declared as "unaffected," PDEA said.
