FOUR persons including a minor were arrested for illegal fishing by members of the Bantay Dagat Task Force and Seaborne Patrol at Barangay Old Sagay, Sagay City Monday evening.
Police identified the suspects as boat captain Lito Lumayno, 43; Aljun Libre, 18; Jimmy Cambunga, 39; and a minor, all residents of Barangay Molocaboc, Sagay City.
Investigation showed the suspects were arrested along the Maca Reef, Sagay Marine Reserve in Sagay City around 10 p.m. Monday, April 30.
Police recovered from the suspects' possession a pump boat, three pieces of tampered mask and bote-bote, flashlight, 13 pieces of abalone and sea cucumber.
The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Sagay City Police Station and facing charges for violations of Republic Act 8550 and 10654.
The minor was also endorsed to the Women's and Children Protection Desk. (MAP)
