THE Negros Occidental Scholarship Program Division (NOSPD) held its annual yearend assembly with over 400 scholar attendees at the Benjamin Hall in Bacolod City on Wednesday, December 19.
Fifty-nine scholars who recently passed their licensure examinations were recognized during the assembly along with 80 other academic honorees.
Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said poverty has been dominant in the country for many years already, and that good quality education is the only solution to this growing problem.
The Provincial Government prioritizes education allocating more than 100 million pesos grant per year to fund the scholarship program of the province, adding that he is very grateful that the students' zeal for education is what the province needs.
The student scholars thanked the Provincial Government and Marañon for the opportunity given to them to further their studies and be better examples to the future generations.
Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson also congratulated the scholars and hopes that the number of scholars will increase in the succeeding years.
Also present in the assembly are Board Member Pedro Zayco Jr., and NOSP public information officer head Karen Dinsay and others. (PR)
