TO provide the public with a more efficient traffic system, the Bacolod City government has installed six new traffic lights on major intersections around the city.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said these six new traffic lights are on test-run since the last week of May.
After a period of observation and assessment, they will be programmed to operate accordingly, he added.
Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (Btao) head Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, in a report to the mayor, said the new traffic light are located on the intersections of Araneta Street–Alijis Road; Gonzaga Extension-Circumferential Road La Palmas; Hilado Street-sixth Street; Lopez Jaena–Gonzaga; and Abuanan-Sum-ag Roads.
This brings to 25 the total number of traffic lights in Bacolod, the mayor added.
Acebuche said the new traffic lights have been tested and fine-tuned by the contractor, and when the timers are programmed according to existing traffic flow and volume, they are scheduling the official switch-on in the said junctions.
Acebuche said the additional traffic lights would mean fewer traffic enforcers in the area.
