SEVENTY-SIX personnel of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) underwent a random drug test at the headquarters on Wednesday, September 5.
Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, public information officer of BCPO, said personnel from City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET), intelligence officers, and other BCPO members submitted their urine sample for the test.
This is the third batch of BCPO personnel who were subjected for the test this year.
Meanwhile, Gabana said the Police Officer 1 who was tested positive for illegal drug use was relieved from Police Station 7 and was transferred to the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (RPHAU) in Iloilo City effective September 5.
The policeman was among the 71 BCPO personnel who underwent a random drug test at the headquarters on July 18.
The police officer, whose name was withheld, was already disarmed. He will be facing a pre-charge investigation.
An administrative case for grave misconduct will also be filed against him.
On the other hand, 54 police non-commissioned officers from BCPO and Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), two members of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), two members of the Philippine Army, and a member of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) have completed their Drug Abuse Resistance Education training in rites led by Senior Superintendent Remus Zacharias Canieso, chief directorial staff of PRO-6, at the Green Garden Orchid Hall at the Bacolod Government Center yesterday.
Ten teachers also finished the Drug Abuse Prevention Education workshop.
Senior Inspector Aireen Cordua, public information officer of Nocppo, said the 10-day training and workshop at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City started on August 27.
The objective of the activity is to train policemen and teachers to hold lectures and seminars about the effects and disadvantages of illegal drugs in the society to Grade 5 and 6 pupils and high school students of all public schools in the province in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Cordua said.
These policemen and teachers should be able to make these pupils or students graduate by December, Cordua said.
The lectures at the different schools will start next month, she added.*
