A DECOMPOSING body of an Australian was found inside his house at Barangay Mambaroto in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental Saturday morning, May 12.
Police identified the victim as Teunis Van Dalen, 79.
A neighbor of the victim asked for police assistance when she smelled a foul odor coming from the foreigner's house.
The victim was found lying in the living room of his house when authorities arrived, police records showed.
Chief Inspector Nazer Canja, city police chief, said the victim succumbed to a lone stab wound on his chest based on the postmortem examination.
He said they are eyeing robbery as a possible motive because there was an indication of forced entry and commotion at the victim's house.
Police recovered a kitchen knife, .38 caliber revolver, two laptops, cellular phone, pocket wifi, iPad, passport, Identification cards, two wallets with various documents and cards, coins, and other valuables.
The bladed weapon and the firearm were under the custody of the Scene of the Crime Operative (Soco) of Negros Occidental Provincial Crime Laboratory in Iloilo City for laboratory examination.
Canja said they already have identified persons of interest. (GYM)
