THE Bacolod Anti-Baha Alliance has considered the flood on August 3 as another wake-up call for the Bacolod City officials.
In a letter to Bacolod City Administrator John Orola Jr., the group chaired by Jean Trebol cited few areas that experienced flooding on August 3.
These include Ramylu Village in Barangay Tangub, Carvic in Barangay Mandalagan, in the vicinity of John B. Lacson Maritime College and Carlos Hilado Memorial State College in Barangay Alijis, Burgos-Lopez Jaena Streets, Tay Tung, Libertad Street, Libertad Market, SM City, Reclamation area, Manokan Country, 24th Street Calamba, Bugnay Street, Capitol Subdivision, CL Montelibano Drive, behind Sugarland Hotel, and Barangays 4, 8, 10, 16, 35 and Singcang-Airport.
The group is asking the City Government what is the cause of the floods.
The typhoon season has started so we expect more serious flooding if nothing is done to resolve the problem, the group said.
Earlier, they also emailed District Engineer Abraham Villareal stating that "it is unfortunate that the drainage project at 12th Lacson Street down to Mandalagan did not resolve the problem of flooding."
They were also asking the assessment of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on the flooded areas and what will the agency do to address the problem.
