BACOLOD City Administrator John Orola said Wednesday, August 22 that they need an approved ordinance to transfer the flower vendors from the public plaza to the designated site behind the Bacolod Arts and Youth Sports (Bays) Center.
Orola said he will ask the City Council Committee on tourism to author an ordinance for the transfer of the flower vendors.
"I will appeal to the City Council to approve it as soon as possible so we can transfer the flower vendors and to start the rehabilitation of the public plaza," he said.
Orola earlier announced that it's already final that they will temporarily transfer all the flower vendors from the public plaza to the identified site behind the Bays Center.
Orola said the flower vendors can still stay in the area, but as soon as the ordinance will be approved, they will be transferred to the designated area behind the Bays Center.
The flower vendors are occupying 18 stalls at the plaza, and they are giving donations to the Diocese, which owns the portion of public plaza being occupied by the vendors, at P50 per day.
City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan had earlier said that they need to settle first the status of the food vendors who are also occupying the area behind the Bays Center.
"This becomes a social issue and we have to look into the convenience of everybody because it's like you are solving one problem and creating another problem," Bayatan said. (MAP)
