THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) held a series of simulated exercises or Simex in order to maintain the security and safety standards at the Bacolod-Silay Airport.

In a statement released by their public information office, the Simex drill started on Monday, August 16, in cooperation with the Aviation Security Unit-Philippine National Police (AvSeU-PNP) Bacolod Station.

Another drill is scheduled for today, August 18, and another on Friday, August 20.

Caap-Bacolod said the activities are part of their preparation for the full-scale airport emergency preparedness that will be held on the third week of September.

For his part, Bacolod-Silay Airport Manager Engineer Percy Malonesio assured the flying public and their stakeholders that these drills are only part of the SIMEX and advised them not to panic.
