THE BACOLOD City council approved a resolution encouraging all government offices, schools, and private establishments in the city to display the Philippine flag in their respective offices and establishments on May 28 to June 12, 2018.
The resolution, authored by Councilor Cindy Rojas, stated that Presidential Proclamation No.374 declared May 28 of every year as National Flag Day to commemorate the date the national emblem was first unfurled after the Philippine Revolution Army defeated the Spanish forces.
She said Executive Order No.70 was issued extending the period of celebrating National Flag Day from May 28 to June 12.
"There is a need to give respect and reverence to our symbol of national sovereignty and solidarity," Rojas added.
Rojas noted that the Philippine Flag is the embodiment of all our country's ideals, culture, and tradition.
The councilor said all Filipinos should display the Philippine flag in all offices, agencies, and instruments of government, business establishment, schools and private homes throughout the period. (MAP)
