OFFICIALS of Barangay 18 in Bacolod City signed a manifesto showing their support and respect to all medical frontliners of the village.
The manifesto, dated August 18 and addressed to Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, chairman of Bacolod City Inter-Agency Task Force against coronavirus disease (Covid-19), City Health Officer Carmela Gensoli, and Dr. Sherley Rodrigazo for anti-discrimination compliance and ethics, was signed by Barangay 18 Chieftain Madeline Diaz.
The manifesto stated that they salute and respect all the medical frontliners residing and renting in Barangay 18.
Most of our constituents and renters of different boarding houses are working in different hospitals, medical clinics and City Health Office.
"Mid of March 2020, we already started all the precautionary steps and health protocols to fight against Covid-19. We also cater all the needs of medical frotnliners most especially to open all the restaurants and eateries and letting them in and out," they said.
The officials also said that they allowed all boarding houses and extended houses to accept medical frontliners to rent or stay under their jurisdiction.
"First week of August 2020, we recorded the first Covid positive patient, one of the employee of the public hospital and up to this date, we already have 18 Covid positive patients, and most of them are medical frontliners. Despite of the surging number of positive cases and lockdown of some areas, we assist and accept all medical fronliners working in all hospitals to coming in and out 24 hours," the officials said.
They added: "We, the Barangay Council together with all the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (Bhert), landladies, landlords and head of the families with medical frontliners family members, sign this manifesto that we respect and salute all medical frontliners of Barangay 18 and together we will heal as one."
The city officials earlier urged Bacolodnons not to discriminate medical personnel because they are the frontliners in the war against Covid-19.
