IN the partial and unofficial result of the poll body, Barangay Mansilingan in Bacolod City may soon have a new chieftain.
Top Kagawad Rodolfo "Boy" Pico is leading in the village's top seat following the synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections against number two Kagawad Danilo Suansing, son of outgoing Barangay Captain Leonardo Suansing.
As to their unofficial count, Pico already reached more than 6,900 votes while his opponent garnered 5,600 plus votes.
"As of our count, I have 1,300 plus more votes compared to him. Even if I will become zero in the remaining precincts, I will still win and the margin is irreversible," Pico said.
Mansilingan is the biggest barangay in Bacolod City, having the biggest population of 19,569 people.
In terms of annual budget, the village also has the biggest budget amounting to P31 million.
He said when he sits as barangay captain, he will work on the housing projects for the informal settlers.
There were idle lands which were occupied by the informal settlers, and the property owners want to eject them, he said.
On the proposed separation of Pagla-um Village from the jurisdiction of Barangay Mansilingan, he said he voted against it and he apologized to the residents of Pagla-um Village for taking a negative vote to the proposed separation.
Pico served the government as an elected barangay official for 28 years.
He said this is his third attempt to run for barangay captain.
