The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has seized an estimated total of P2,471,744.50 worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) from June 1 to 30.
Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, acting BCPO director, presented their accomplishment on anti-illegal drug campaign for the month of June in a press conference on Thursday.
The BCPO has recovered a total of 164.7163 grams of shabu from 45 operations which resulted in the apprehension of 66 persons, including one high-value target, five street-level targets, and 60 newly-identified drug personalities.
Ebreo said 114 drug cases were filed last month.
The high-value target and newly-identified drug personality that was arrested last month was Myla Velano, 31, of Barangay Singcang-Airport, yielded an estimated P1,020,000 worth of suspected shabu in a drug bust conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) at Barangay Granada on June 21.
Based on police's monitoring, Velano allegedly gets her supply through the contact of her partner, who is imprisoned at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City for more than five years due to drug charges. Her sibling is also in jail for drugs.
Velano has been reportedly engaging in the illegal drug trade for one and a half years and distributes the contraband in Bacolod and neighboring cities Talisay and Silay.
Ebreo said the BCPO continues to intensify their anti-illegal drug operations, especially with the neutralization of Western Visayas drug lord Ramy Poja, who was killed in a police operation in Barangay Banago on May 24.
Meanwhile, two persons were arrested for sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental on Thursday, July 5.
In Silay City, Jerecho Daquiado, 27, of Barangay Mambulac, a newly-identified drug personality, was caught attempting to hold an alleged "pot session" in the said village.
Police recovered from him 24 sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) amounting to P30,000, drug paraphernalia, pouch, candy box, cellular phone, and P150 in cash.
In Bacolod City, Richard Palma, 40, of Purok Lawayan, Barangay Banago was arrested in a buy-bust in the said village after police seized from him four sachets of suspected shabu worth P3,000, and the P200 marked money.
