SENIOR Superintendent Joel Superficial, director of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Western Visayas warned jail officers and officials to never get involved in corruption and illegal activities.
This, after the confiscation of about P1 million worth of illegal drugs, P100,000 in cash, and other contraband items during a greyhound operation at the Negros Oriental Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Dumaguete City last week.
A plastic bottle with several plastic sachets of suspected shabu was also recovered in the makeshift quarters of a jail guard, who was subjected for a drug test, along with other jail employees.
Although no such recoveries in greyhound operations in Western Visayas, Superficial still urged all personnel to intensify and strengthen their security measures in the jails.
"There was a recovery of contraband items regionwide but only very minimal," Superficial said.
Superficial said they will continue to implement the national bureau's directive on intensified "Oplan Linis Piitan" until all jails will be free from contrabands, particularly illegal drugs.
Superficial said the regional bureau will not hesitate to suspend or dismiss personnel who will be proven guilty of any administrative offense.
