THE Negros Occidental Provincial Government is trying to address the alleged delayed salaries of some job order (JO) casuals.
Renelo Lastierre, president of the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees (Pace), said the employees asked the help of Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz on Tuesday, October 13, regarding the delay in their salaries.
Lastierre said the attention of the provincial accountant was called and ordered to do away with "strict technicalities."
"These people are already hungry and if the basic requirements are accomplished their salaries should be released without further delay," Lastierre quoted Diaz as saying.
He added that during the meeting, it was decided that a uniform checklist will be followed to hasten the processing of the salaries of the JO employees.
Lastierre said the provincial administrator ordered that the delayed salaries "should be released this week."
While the JO workers are not members of Pace, he said "they are still employees of the Capitol."
"We should also show compassion towards them," Lastierre said.
He pointed out that Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson "does not want these to happen."
"Department heads where the papers of the payrolls of these workers should also help and understand how it feels to have delayed salaries because they are employees too," he added.
Pace appealed to the Capitol officials to help lowly employees especially the JOs, Lastierre said.
