THE Bacolod City Council condemned the ambush against their colleague, Councilor Ricardo Tan, as they called on the authorities to conduct a deeper probe on the incident.
The resolution calling the Bacolod City Police Office, National Bureau of Investigation, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and all law enforcement agencies to do all efforts to immediately resolve the crime, to bring into justice the perpetrators and to ensure that the same incident will never happen again in Bacolod was approved during their regular session Wednesday, December 19.
The resolution was authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito.
On December 14, Councilor Tan and his wife were ambushed by unidentified persons.
"Such horrible incident created alarm and panic to the residents and even to public officials who are mostly members of this August body the reason why we condemn such and appeal to law enforcers for a thorough and speedy investigation to apprehend the persons behind this malevolent act," Distrito said.
Distrito noted that every resident of this city should always have the courage to stand against violence and condemn it to the highest degree.
"We call that violence or atrocities have no place in our beloved City and that there is no justification for anyone to take or attempt the life of another person," Distrito said.
He said it is for the first time in Bacolod that such horrifying incident was done against a public official.
"We appeal to all our law enforcers once again to capture the perpetrators of this incident, to give justice to the victims and to ensure to each of us, that we are still safe to serve our people," he added. (MAP)
