City Council session moved

BACOLOD City Council Secretary Vicente Petierre III said Tuesday, August 7, there will be no regular session Wednesday, August 8, as it has been moved to Friday, August 10.

Petierre said that before the official trip of Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and six other councilors to Long Beach, California, the members of the Council approved a resolution to reschedule today's regular session to August 10.

Familiaran, along with Councilors Caesar Distrito, Em Ang, Dindo Ramos, Cindy Rojas, Renecito Novero and Bartolome Orola, is expected to arrive in Bacolod today.

The August body has no session for two Wednesdays, on July 25 and August 1, due to lack of quorum.

Acting Vice Mayor Ricardo Tan had earlier said they cannot constitute a quorum because six of the councilors were on a trip while two others were also on leave.

In last week's session, aside from Tan, also present were Councilors Elmer Sy, Ana Marie Palermo, Wilson Gamboa Jr., Claudio Puentevella and Ayesha Joy Villaflor.

Councilors Sonya Verdeflor and Noli Villarosa were on official leave.

Meanwhile, Petierre said it's a requirement of newly elected Barangay League president Lady Gles Gonzales to have an oath of office and confirmation from the National Executive Board of Barangay League in Manila to assume her post and to join the regular session.
