BACOLOD City Councilor Cindy Rojas said on Wednesday, August 29, she will request the City Legal Office (CLO) and officials of the Barangay Villamonte to submit the result of their investigations in the dumping of garbage in the middle of the road at Lopez-Jaena Extension last week.
Rojas, chairperson of the City Council committee on environment, said she will wait for the result of the investigation to determine the persons behind the incident.
She said they checked the closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras along Lopez-Jaena Extension, but the videos are not clear.
"I hope it will not happen again because we are trying our best to maintain the clean and green program of our city," Rojas said.
She said the City Government has an ongoing clean and green competition which was participated by the 61 barangays.
Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairperson of the City Council committee on laws, had earlier said the illegal dumpers can be charged for violations of anti-littering ordinance and Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia had earlier ordered a probe in the dumping of garbage in the area. (MAP)
