VICE President Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo, and the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) community believed in the power of collaboration as evident on how the two managed well in their respective mission and endeavors.
Robredo graced the first Pasidungog 2018 held Wednesday at SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.
Robredo said even with meager resources, her office came up with an anti-poverty program "Angat Buhay," where they partner with local government units, private sector, and the academe to uplift the lives of the poorest communities through key areas such as hunger, food security, rural development, women empowerment, housing and education.
"In a span of two years, we discovered that through the power of collaboration and participation, results are much more sustainable and significant. Since our launch in October of 2016, the program has transformed the lives of 132,000 families, mobilizing P214 million worth of resources and projects in 176 cities and municipalities. Every week, we would spend two or three days going around visiting the poorest, the farthest and the most unheard of municipalities across the country," she said.
Meanwhile, CHMSC President Renato Sorolla said, "working with our partners is the best practice of the state college because it is anchored on the principle of Triple Helix which symbolizes strong partnership and collaboration between government, academe, industries, and community. In Triple Helix, the government is the provider of resources, the academe is the implementer of quality education and training, and the industries are the recipients of the graduates and are the end-users of education. The Triple Helix if applied in education will result in effective social transformation and improvement of the quality of life of the people."
For his part, CHMSC Director for External Affairs Rhoderick Samonte thanked the vice president for partnering with their school, adding "expressing our appreciation to our partners is vital in maintaining a healthy, productive, dynamic and mutually beneficial relationship."
