THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City will transfer the venue of voter's registration today from Bacolod Arts and Youth Sports Center (Bays Center) to the annex building of the Government Center.
City Election Registrar Mavil Majarucon-Sia said Thursday, September 27, the voter's registration will be held starting Friday, September 28 to Saturday, September 29, the last day of registration.
"We requested to transfer the voter's registration because we cannot use the Bays Center because it's already fully booked and they do not have enough facility to accommodate all the registrants," she said.
She added that because of their limited space, they received several complaints from registrants including persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
The voter's registration will start from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Majarucon-Sia pointed out that the registration will not be extended and on the last day of registration, they will accommodate those registrants in the area.
"As long as they are in the area, we will accommodate them," she said.
As of Thursday, September 27, Comelec registered more than 500 additional voters.
Comelec catered the regular applications for new registration, transfer, and corrections of entry.
In 2016 elections, Comelec registered a total 294,000 voters and they have a total of 12,000 registrants who are subject for Election Registration Board (ERB) hearing on October 25.
"We still have to review our records to determine the deceased voters and those who applied for the transfer. Maybe for 2019 elections, we could hit 300,000 voters," Majarucon-Sia said. (MAP)
