THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) will conduct a satellite registration in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City, on July 21.

City Election Registrar Mavil Majarucon-Sia said Thursday, July 19, that this will be their first satellite registration schedule that will be held in Barangay Estefania gymnasium from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

She said Barangay Estefania officials already agreed for the said activity.

The Comelec will cater to all types of registrations such as new registration, transfer, reactivation, correction of entry and transfer with reactivation registrations. They will prioritize the residents of Barangay Estefania, but if they have enough time, they will also entertain the walk-in registrants from other barangays.

Majarucon-Sia said they are also waiting for the approval from the provincial supervisor for the next satellite registration schedule in other barangays.

These are Barangays Alangilan, Granada, Cabug, Felisa, Vista Alegre, Handumanan and Bata.

"We already have a tentative schedule in the said barangays, but it still subject to change because it will depend on the availability of the barangay," Majarucon-Sia said.

She said during the satellite registration, the Comelec office will be closed and they will only open from Monday to Friday.

"We are conducting the satellite registration to be able to come closer to the people, especially in far-flung barangay," Majarucon-Sia added.

The registrants should bring valid government identification cards with picture and signature, original and photocopy of birth certificate.

If their residence is not stated on the ID, they could bring a proof of their residence or billing statements like water or electric bills.

Comelec can only cater up to 300 persons in every barangay.

Comelec resumed the voter's registration on July 2 in preparation for the May 2019 elections. (MAP)
