

A POLICEMAN died while four others were injured in a road accident at Vista Alegre Access Road, Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City Saturday evening.
Police identified the fatality as Patrolman Ivan Ray Dela Cruz, 25, assigned at Boracay Police Station, Malay Aklan, and resident of Purok Hervabuena, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City.
Injured were Cinderella Diancin, 26, of Barangay Vista Alegre; Shellene Villanueva, 28, of Barangay Villamonte; Nemwil Perolino, 32, of Barangay Vista Alegre, and Fernan Agolino, 44, of Barangay Vista Alegre.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said yesterday that Perolino was driving his Kawasaki tricycle with his three passengers Dela Cruz, Diancin, and Villanueva around 8:30 p.m.
When they reached Vista Alegre Access Road, Barangay Vista Alegre, they collided with a tricycle driven by Agolino, who was travelling from east to west of Vista Alegre Access Road, Pico said.
He said Dela Cruz was sitting on the front seat of a passenger tricycle and he tried to protect one of his companions.
Due to the strong impact, Dela Cruz sustained serious injuries along with his two companions. The two drivers of the tricycle also sustained injuries. All of them were brought to the Riverside Medical Center, but Dela Cruz did not survive.
Pico said the investigators of Police Station 7 are still conducting further investigation on the incident.
Meanwhile, a total of 66 persons in Bacolod City were arrested by Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) for violating curfew hours on Saturday.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said the 66 persons were arrested by personnel of Police Stations 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 10 for violating curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
He said the violators were given a citation ticket and those who are Bacolod residents were fined P500 while non-residents were fined P800.
Those who failed to pay penalties were endorsed to the barangay for a community service. (MAP)
