THE City Council of Bacolod has concurred the appointment of Ma. Victorina Parrenas as City Government Department Head II of the Bacolod Housing Authority (BHA) in Bacolod City.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said the appointment of Parrenas was unanimously approved during the council's regular session on Wednesday, July 31.
He said Parrenas, who was formerly assigned at the City Planning Development Office, occupied her post in BHA effective Thursday, August 1, replacing its officer-in-charge, Architect Faith Joy Lumauag.
"Her work is also related to her new assignment to lead the BHA," he added.
Parrenas expressed her gratitude to the City Council for the approval of her appointment.
She said they will focus on providing a relocation site for informal settlers living in danger zones in various barangays, as well as those occupying in government lands used for infrastructure projects.
"We cannot just cater them as soon as they will go to our office. We need to check their areas if they will be qualified to avail a relocation site," she said.
Parrenas added that she personally handled the community-based monitoring system and that they know who are those informal settlers in need of relocation.
She noted that based on Local Shelter Plan 2018-2027, Bacolod City has a total of 9,646 informal settlers.
Parrenas said the City Government has an ongoing relocation site development project to accommodate the informal settlers in Bacolod.
