A COUPLE was arrested for the recovery of 20 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or what is commonly called shabu worth P200,000 after police raided their house by virtue of a search warrant at Barangay Zone 2 in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental Wednesday night.
Chief Inspector Rocky Desear, city police chief, identified the target subject as Jeffany Nene, 28, of Barangay Zone 2; and her partner Jeric Cornel, 41, of Barangay Zone 1.
Nene is the top drug personality in the city while Cornel is a street-level target.
Police recovered from Nene 17 sachets of suspected shabu, digital weighing scale, three improvised tooters, two lighters, two cellular phones, and two pouches while 25 sachets of suspected shabu, a canister, and a cellular phone were confiscated from Cornel.
Desear said both suspects can be considered high-value targets because of the big drug recovery.
Desear said it took them 10 minutes to bring Nene to the police station after she resisted arrest from the police operatives.
Desear also said that Nene's house can be considered as a drug den because they received reports that some drug personalities would usually go there to hold "pot session."
Desear said Nene allegedly gets her supply from Cornel, who also gets his supply from a source in Bacolod City.
Police refused to divulge the name of the couple's source as they continue to validate the information.
The couple is detained at Cadiz City Police Station and will face charges for illegal possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Meanwhile, in Manapla town, Erron Magalona, 35, of Barangay 2 was arrested in a buy-bust on the same day after police seized from him five sachets of suspected shabu, and the P500 marked money.
Magalona is under the town's drugs watchlist.
