THE death toll from coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in Bacolod City climbed to three after the Department of Health (DOH)-Western Visayas included on their official list the 40-year-old male who expired on Sunday, May 3, due to heart attack.
This was stressed by Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran Monday, May 4, after the DOH-Western Visayas revised its data on the same day and included on their list the 40-year-old male, who was tagged as Patient No. 3.
It was earlier announced that since the victim has already tested negative for the virus, and twice at that, he cannot be considered a Covid-19 fatality, as per DOH protocols.
Familiaran, chairperson of Bacolod City Inter-Agency Task Force against Covid-19, said Patient No. 3 died due to cardiogenic shock secondary to fatal arrhythmia.
He said Patient No. 3, a resident of Barangay Taculing, was admitted on March 19. His first swab test for the coronavirus turned positive. He was deisolated on April 10 after he was tested negative twice.
While in hospital, he suffered a stroke because of depleted oxygen supply to the brain due to breathing difficulty related to Covid. For this, he was intubated six days after admission.
Patient No. 3 was the son of the 62-year-old female patient, who was also tested positive for the coronavirus in Bacolod City, and died in March. Both of them had a travel history to Manila.
Other Covid-19 fatality was the 69-year-old male, who was from Purok Sabes, Barangay Villamonte.
From February to April, Bacolod City has a total of nine confirmed cases of Covid-19, four of them already recovered while two others still on recovery.
