A 40-YEAR-OLD male patient who recently tested positive for Sars-CoV2 which cause coronavirus disease (Covid-19), died in a hospital in Bacolod City on Sunday, May 3, due to cardiogenic shock secondary to fatal arrhythmia.
This was stressed by Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, chairperson of Bacolod City Inter-Agency Task Force against Covid-19, after the 40-year-old male, who was tagged as Patient No.3, expired after six weeks of being in the hospital.
Familiaran said Patient No. 3 was admitted on March 19 and was deisolated on April 10 after he was tested negative three times for the coronavirus.
He said Patient No. 3 was the son of the 62-year-old female patient, who was also tested positive for Covid-19 in Bacolod City, and died in March.
Patient No. 3 and his mother had a travel history to Manila.
Adventist Medical Center-Bacolod through Galileo Pabalinas, president/medical director of the hospital, expressed grief by the death of the 40-year-old male Covid-19 patient Sunday, around 5 a.m.
Pabalinas said the patient had been retested for Covid-19 three times, which came out with negative results, but remained in the hospital due to the severity of disease complications.
He said necessary proceedings followed the protocol of the Department of Health in handling the patient's remains.
"We offer prayers of comfort for the family, and our prayers too for the healthcare team who had been with him through the progress of his disease, sacrificing time and providing their best efforts of care. Our hearts go out in comfort and sympathy as he had left two of his siblings and of which his mother passed away last March of the same disease. We ensure safety practices on our healthcare team for their health and well-being while taking care of our patients. Most importantly, we pray for strength, hope and unity as we help in eradicating this deadly disease," he added.
