THE Diocese of Bacolod is joining the call of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) for reparation and mourning for those who were killed including the priests.
Father Chris Gonzales, head of the Social Action Center of the Diocese of Bacolod, said Bishop Patricio Buzon came out with a circular letter for all the parishes to ring their respective church bells every 8 p.m. from July 24 to 29.
"The ringing of the bells every 8 p.m. was supposed to be a continuous activity for as long as violence and killings continue in the country. It is an invitation to pray for the dead," Gonzales said.
The CBCP denounced the killing of the priests including the latest that happened on June 10. Three Catholic priests were killed since December last year.
Gonzales said on Friday, June 29, the Bishop declared it as the Day of Fasting and Abstinence like during the Good Friday which is the highest form of reparation and mourning.
During the day, there will be a Holy Hour where priests will confess and hold confession for the Catholic faithful at the Lupit Shrine.
At 4 p.m., the priests will then hold a procession to San Sebastian Cathedral, where a mass will follow.
Gonzales said the country needs prayer due to violence and killings as well as the recent statements of the president, insulting God.
