A BIRTHDAY celebration turned tragic after a man, who was reportedly drunk, and his son drowned at the waters of Barangay Gen. Luna in Toboso, Negros Occidental Saturday, September 8.
Chief Inspector Joery Puerto, town police chief, identified the fatality as Abeto Fajardo, 42, and his son Kevin, 12, both residents of Barangay Tabun-ac.
Puerto said the victims went swimming past 3 p.m. to celebrate the birthday of Abeto's five-year-old nephew.
However, while they were at the sea, a few meters away from the shoreline, both victims were carried away by the strong waves.
The birthday celebrant, who also went swimming with them, survived.
Both victims were rushed to a hospital, where they were declared dead. (GYM)
