SENIOR Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, acting director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said 85 percent of the policemen assigned in police stations are deployed in the streets for visibility patrol.
Ebreo said they were ordered to render duty for 12 hours but they were also allowed to have a rest for 12 hours.
"It is an ideal duty hour for police officers in stations," Ebreo said.
At present, 107 augmentation personnel from the Police Regional Office (PRO–6) were deployed in the streets of Bacolod to help the police force in the campaign against criminalities.
He also said the remaining 15 percent of the personnel in police stations are tasked to do administrative duties.
Ebreo said the deployment of more policemen in the streets contributed to the reduction of crimes in the city, with a decrease of 32.24 percent or 69 incidents compared to last year's 214 cases from July 1 to 24.
BCPO has recorded 32 cases of index crimes this year compared to 78 incidents in 2017, with a drop of 58.97 percent.
For eight focus crimes, theft has the highest number of cases with 13; physical injuries, 11; robbery, four; rape, two; murder, one; and motornapping, 1.
No cases of homicide and carnapping.
For non-index crimes, including vehicular accidents and other special laws, 113 incidents were recorded against 136 cases last year, with a reduction of 16.91 percent, covering the same period.
Ebreo said police-initiated operations increased by 71.05 percent, with 65 operations conducted in 24 days compared to last year's 38 operations.
The Bacolod top cop said they already expected that crimes against properties will increase during the start of the lean month, however, with their weekly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, they were able to assess and evaluate crimes and provide preventive measures for its reduction.
Two weeks ago, the BCPO also received four brand new patrol cars from Philippine National Police (PNP) through PRO-6 to aid them in their visibility patrols.
Ebreo said Police Stations 3, 5, 7, and 10 were provided with the brand new patrol vehicles.
On the campaign against illegal gambling, 25 operations were conducted which resulted in the apprehension of 76 persons. A total of 25 cases were filed.
For the campaign against wanted persons, 37 operations were conducted which resulted in the arrest of two most wanted persons and 30 other wanted persons.
On anti-loitering campaign, 307 minors were rescued from 221 operations. (GYM)
