TWO persons were arrested for illegal possession of firearms and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia in separate operations in Negros Occidental Sunday, August 5.
In La Carlota City, fish vendor Rogelio Garcia Jr., 44, of Barangay Haguimit, a drug surrenderer, was arrested in a drug bust after police seized from him an improvised shotgun, an unfired cartridge of .38 caliber, a lighter, and three improvised tooters.
In Bago City, police raided Ronimel Torres's house in Barangay Mailum through a search warrant. However, Torres was able to escape during the operation.
Police recovered from his house a Springfield Armory .45 caliber, magazine, and two live ammunition.
In Murcia town, Benjamin Alvin Lim, 32, and Hernando Sembrano Jr, 26, both residents of Barangay Zone 3 were arrested after they were allegedly creating alarm and scandal in front of a department store in Barangay Zone 2. Both were reportedly under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
Police confiscated from them an improvised pen gun, and two live ammunition of .38 caliber. (Faith Hope Lauren, STI West Negros University intern)
