GOVERNOR Eugenio Jose Lacson is in favor of scrapping school year 2020-2021 because of the threat of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
Lacson in a press conference Wednesday, May 20, said it is much better if classes will start next year.
"Nobody will be left behind if there are no classes. One-year rest is not so bad. It's safer and by that time there could already be vaccine or cure for Covid-19," Lacson pointed out.
As of this time several medicines are already tested but there's no sure fire yet, Lacson said.
"Let's be cautious and play safe until such time that we will already have a cure for the virus," Lacson added.
The Department of Education has already announced that school opening for this school year will start on August 24 and will end on April 30,2021.
However, there have been challenges coming from the department personnel and teachers that classes should only start if the government through the Department of Health could conduct mass testing for Covid-19 for the health safety of the school children. (TDE)
