THE "Hair for Hope" advocacy by known companies in Bacolod City and in the country in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bacolod-East will start accepting hair donors today at the main atrium of Robinsons Place in.
The Kadughan Breast Care Foundation and Oncology Department of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital will be the beneficiary of this advocacy.
RCBE president Philip Araneta said: "we tend to forget people who are afflicted with cancer, the struggle that they have to go through. Sometimes it also leads to the loss of self-esteem. A simple act of people donating their hairs has a big magnification in the self-esteem of cancer patients. That spells a world of difference for people who are fighting for their lives. This is not just an event here but an international event where people really shedding their hair not just to donate it but to show oneness and sympathy with people who are afflicted with the dreaded disease. I know that one day, there will be a cure for cancer. But meanwhile, we all have to work together to help people survive this dreaded disease."
Ziggy Hermosura, who is a London-trained hair stylist joined the advocacy as her parents died of cancer.
"I feel the need to help cancer patients because I experienced how my parents suffered from cancer. This will be a good platform for me to share my skills as a hair stylist and give it back to other people. Positive attitude radiates with the 'Hair for Hope.' This is our first provincial event outside Manila," she said.
They asked all hair donors to come to the event and donate their hair to the cancer patients.
