HIMAMAYLAN City has the most number of rabies cases in the province from January to September 27.
Based on the record of the Provincial Veterinary Office, there are 26 cases of rabies cases in the province in 2018.
Of the number, 11 cases were recorded in Himamaylan City.
Dr. Ryan Hanoya, head of the animal and health inspection division of the PVO, said as part of the observance of World Rabies Day, they held a meeting Thursday, September 27, in Hiamamaylan City with the village chiefs who will be in the forefront in the campaign against rabies.
Dog vaccination and catching of stray dogs were also conducted because based on the record, most of the rabies cases in Himamaylan were bitten by stray dogs.
PVO has already vaccinated 30 percent of the total dog population in the province or 67.78 percent, covering 177,400 dogs.
Other localities having rabies cases are Candoni and Silay City with three cases each, Murcia with two and one each in Moises Padilla, Kabankalan City Cauayan, Sipalay City, Hinobaan, La Castellana and Ilog.
