A NEWBORN baby boy whose umbilical cord is still attached was found dead in a river in Purok Highway, Zone 25 in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Police records showed that two minors went fishing in the river when the dead baby was trapped on their fishnets.

The minors immediately sought the assistance of their neighbors.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) and the policemen responded to the area for the proper disposition of the baby.

The cadaver was brought to the City Health Office for post-mortem examination.

Some residents posted the photo on social media and it drew mixed reactions from citizens, who cursed the mother of the baby.

Talisay City Women and Children Protection Desk is still conducting further investigation to identify the mother who may face charges.
